The One Where it all begins

So I can now say I am like any other over-computerized American- I have started a blog...
Not my usual cup of tea, but I figure this will be the easiest way to keep y'all up to date on life.
As most of you know by now, I am headed to Uganda, Africa for the Spring '09 semester to study abroad. Trust me, this is not where I saw myself a year ago or even 6 months ago, I thought I would be headed to somewhere like New Zealand but God had a different plan for me. And I have faithfully answered, dropping mine.

A while back, I was challenged by a friend here at school to find a verse for the year. As I was reading my Bible, God clearly told me which one I should be meditating on for the 08-09 school year. Psalm 73:23-26 says:

23 Nevertheless, I am continually with you;
you hold my right hand.
24 you guide me with your counsel,
and afterward you will receive me to glory.
25 Whom have I in heaven but you?
And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you.
26 My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart and portion forever.

God has called me to Africa once again, and as I meditate on these versus, I know there is nothing to worry about or any fear to be had because He is holding my hand and He is leading me. I am not the main character in my life, God is. I am only a supporting character, because honestly, I would be nowhere without Him and life would have no point. Seriously, have you ever sat down and really contemplated about life? about the purpose of man on the earth? I have and the only answer that I have truthfully found is to worship God. It is so easy to get caught up in the game of life, especailly in modern day America where all that seeems to matter is money and who has more stuff and who has the newest stuff. This stuff can only buy us happiness for so long, until something bigger and better comes out and we just have to have that. This stuff we work so long and so hard for will eventually break or we will grow tired of. This stuff is not eternal, it is missing one very important thing that only humans have. And that is a SOUL. While here on earth, we have a very IMPORTANT decision to make. And that decision decides on where we go upon our personal exit from this world. This is not a decision you can have someone make for you, but this is a decision you have to make for yourself and no one can tell you otherwise. You can accept Jesus Christ into your heart or you can deny Him.

Life is short here on earth, but it is for eternity in either heaven or hell. And our eternity depends solely on THE choice we make here on earth. Man cannot understand eternity because we have never experienced it. WE had a beginning and our bodies have an end, but our souls' will live on.

The reason God has put me on this earth is to first, give all glory to God and second to help fulfill the Great Commission. It is time for the unreached to be reached, for the lost to be found, for the hurting to be healed. The rest of the world needs to hear about Jesus Christ and that time is now!
